Typical capabilities

What our sheet metal partners typically handle

Typical ranges across our partner shops, not guarantees. The achievable result for your part is confirmed in the quote after we review your drawing.

Sheet metal parts can be bulky. We'll suggest packing and shipping options (e.g. combining with your CNC parts, or sea freight for larger batches) to keep freight cost sensible.

Typical sheet metal fabrication capabilities
QuantitiesPrototypes from 1 piece; small and medium batches depending on the part.
MaterialsCold-rolled steel (DC01 / SPCC), galvanised steel (DX51D / SECC), stainless steel 304 / 316, aluminium 5052 / 6061, copper and brass on request.
ThicknessTypically around 0.5–6 mm, depending on material and process. Thicker plate on request.
General toleranceISO 2768-m unless your drawing specifies otherwise.
Typical tolerancesLaser-cut features commonly around ±0.1–0.2 mm; formed (bent) dimensions are looser — commonly around ±0.3–0.5 mm and about ±1° on bend angles. Depends on partner factory, material and part size.
Joining & hardwareTIG / MIG / spot welding; PEM-style press-in fasteners; rivets; simple sub-assembly.
FinishesPowder coating, wet painting, zinc plating, anodizing (aluminium), brushing, passivation, silk-screen and laser marking.
Lead timeDepends on bends, welding, finish and quantity. As a rough guide, simple samples often take about 1–2 weeks and small batches about 2–4 weeks, plus shipping. Confirmed in each quote.
Files3D model (STEP) plus PDF drawing preferred; DXF/DWG flat patterns welcome.

Typical parts

What buyers typically send us

  • Brackets & mounting plates
  • Electrical enclosures & boxes
  • Chassis, covers & panels
  • Machine guards & frames
  • Laser-cut flat parts
  • Welded sub-assemblies

Design tips

Make sheet metal parts easier — and cheaper — to quote

  • State material, thickness and grade on the drawing
  • Keep one inside bend radius where possible
  • Tighten tolerances only where parts mate
  • Specify hardware part numbers (e.g. press-in nuts)
  • Give RAL colour, gloss level and masked areas for coating
  • Mark cosmetic (visible) sides and weld finish requirements
